In early April, we had a very special visit from Roger Ferrell and his family!
Roger is the Director of Multiply Maine and the Pastor at Anchor Church in Boothbay, Maine. We started a formal partnership with Anchor Church through our Global Missions Offering (GMO) in 2019, and we were so excited for the whole congregation to get to meet Roger and hear about his work!
Roger grew up in Greenville, South Carolina and attended Furman University, where he met his wife, Caroline. Roger and Caroline felt the call to plant churches wherever in the United States had the least of them: They looked it up and discovered it was Maine! So they followed the call, packed their bags, and moved north. They planted a church in Portland, and then another in Augusta. They have taken time away to serve nationwide mission work in various positions at different times, but God continues to call them back to Maine, where they are now.
Roger and Caroline experience frequent affirmation that Maine is where God wants them to be. Roger described the non-Christian religious practices, such as meditation through Buddhism, which are more common than prayer in their community. He explained the great need for greater Christian influence, and he expressed encouragement from a growing number of Christian churches in the state.
To join us in supporting Roger and Caroline's work through Anchor Church, please consider adding them to your prayer list, signing up for the next mission trip, or making a one-time or regular donation through the GMO.
